Dr. Mary McCarthy, PT, DPT

Mary McCarthy is the owner of Three Trees Physical Therapy. She graduated with her Doctor   of Physical therapy from MGH’s Institute of Health Professions in Boston in 2016 and has been   treating  patients locally on the South Shore since.

She believes strongly in utilizing the most up-to-date clinical techniques and knowledge to best   serve  her patients. In previous employment as a Senior Physical Therapist, she managed her   office’s clinical education program. In this role, she organized and taught classes to other therapists   to advance their level of skill and understanding, as well as worked as a mentor for both staff and   physical therapy students. She has also participated in extensive continuing education on manual therapy techniques. These specialized hands-on treatments focus on optimizing the movement of joints and muscles in order to reduce pain and increase function so that her patients can return to full participation in all of life’s activities. Her education includes course work from the North American Institute of Manual Therapy (NAIOMT), courses on the Maitland technique, and Level I certification from the Institute of Manual Therapy’s (IOMT) year-long program in 2019.

Mary enjoys working with a variety of patients, and has experience with all age groups and with many neuromusculoskeletal conditions. These include but are not limited to: stroke, herniated disks, injuries resulting from auto accidents, joint replacements, repetitive stress injuries, and sports injuries. She has a particular interest in spinal dysfunction and chronic pain. She promotes self-efficacy for her patients, teaching them to maintain and progress independently post treatment.

Three Trees Physical Therapy is her first venture into private practice. Its mission is to provide patients the opportunity to receive the highest level of care to allow them to return to doing the things they love faster. She is looking forward to sharing her knowledge and skills to the local community!
